Hi I’m David,
I live in Yorkshire, UK. I have a young family, three jobs and a DIY ‘to-do’ list as long as my arm. I’m honest, creative, and really good looking (ask my wife).
I created ToolShare to help people like me get access to the tools they need locally, at fair prices. I also have some rarely used tools just gathering dust so why not put them to good use elsewhere in my community.
Despite having a technical background, I have brought on business partners that are smarter than me and therefore switched my focus to running ToolShare and creating a business model that works for everyone.
I hope you enjoy the vision we’ve brought to life. We’d love to hear your feedback on how we can improve our service.
Matthew
Co-Founder & CTO
I am Matthew. I live in West Yorkshire with my wife and five children. I am a software engineer with 10 years of experience building iPhone apps as well as web applications.
I have previously worked in tech support, supporting a number of systems connected over a network over Europe. I then moved into software engineering where I had a role as CTO of a real estate application using Apple’s Bluetooth iBeacons.
After working with Apple technologies, I then shifted focus to other programming languages building backend services for an internal billing system. Afterwards I expanded my programming services to include other languages including C# and .Net Core which I have most recently worked with building software in the mental-health space.
I co-founded ToolShare with David and the rest of the team to make tools more accessible to those around your community.

Hey friends, I just visited the zoo yesterday and my favourite exhibit was the fox enclosure. I don’t feel enclosure is the right word in this context however, as the area they had was a vast habitat, expertly design to emulate their favourite living environment. It was open air, allowing them to interact with the elements, while still keeping them protected from other threats they may face unnecessarily. I found the experience to be quite fascinating.

I’m excited to be working with such a talented team of people who each truly believe in our goal of empowering community synergy. I enjoy producing and listening to music because it brings people together and is an effective way to spread joy and happiness! I really believe in ToolShare because we aim to do the same by helping neighbours and communities come together through something as simple, yet powerful, as borrowing tools.
At ToolShare, I’m responsible for the operations of the company, as well as the company infrastructure and ensuring staff have the resources they need, in an empowering and creativity-conducive workflow. And I also dabble in a fair share of our marketing and user support efforts. Is it a lot of work? Yes. Is it totally worth it? Oh, absolutely! 😉

Hi, I’m Alana!
I’m currently studying music performance & song writing in Manchester, but outside of my student life I spend a great deal of my time directing the marketing efforts at ToolShare. From researching the latest trends and memes, to creating portfolios of content, my role is momentous task, but I enjoy working with an incredible team, who also values and supports my creativity!
Outside of my studies and work, you’ll find me writing and recording my own music, frequenting local open mics and touring independent coffee shops.
I believe the ToolShare platform can really change the way we think about planning and participating in DIY and other similar projects. My favourite aspect of ToolShare is its commitment to empowering the effort on climate action, what’s your favourite thing about ToolShare?
